DRAWING

Niel Thakkar

A backlit scene with two kids watching a laptop, in a soft soothing ambiance, house elements create a frame within a frame, alongside the perspective creating leading lines to our focal points. Skin tones moving from warm to cool as the light turns away. Creating a sort of visual inception.

The triangular composition establishes a visual hierarchy in the subject describing the family dynamics. The opaque media helps in defining light and shade despite the influx of a lot of colors. The poses and postures of the models are suggestive of the activity.

CALLIGRAPHY

SHRUTI RAMUGADE.jpg

The objective of the assignment was to aesthetically create a chic design with an amalgamation of Devanagari and Roman script. ओम in the center acts as the focal point. The recurring इ stroke adds a sense of dimension to the composition, also, brush pen strokes enhance the rhythm, creating harmonious contrast.

Inspired by Gulzar's poem, the title 'Dard' has been designed, which means pain. The red colour expresses emotions like pain, anguish precisely. The brush splatter also adds to the expression.

“Make music”- Massimo Vignelli’s advice was thoroughly practiced in this design, with Visual keynotes placed in a symphonic hierarchy, colors maintaining their iconic Vignelli tempo, with passion for grids whirling together to make the headline- Crescendo for the piece..

A newspaper layout design depicting, a specific graphic designer’s artwork to study the use of grids in a layout. This was a unique opportunity to look into the works of Jessica Walsh and her legacy. The inspired blend of design, installation and photography makes it possible to establish a relation between the text and the visual.

VISUALISATION

Package design for a lollipop with a sugary visual tone serving as a banquet to the absurd candy illustrations,
mounted on strong diagonal composition. Negative space is as flavorsome as the word lollipop, which pops in and out with the logo and baseline balancing our appetite, making the design visually appetizing.

Comics have historically proven to show great use of exaggeration, which means explaining a whole bunch of ideas in a single frame. The choice to not show the exact origin or end of the hair giving our imagination infinite room for possibilities, setting a supernatural scenario in real life adding humor of the subject. The white background and the mellow colors are used to give importance to the contrastingly black hair.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

_SHUBHAM BHELEKAR.jpg

Inspired by the hot summer of April, a calendar is designed. The character emits summer vibes, while fresh lime acts as a metaphor for the Sun.

Application of a design into a relevant commodity like a mask and t-shirt suggesting the use of a narrative. A group of plumbers fixing a leak in a tap positioned intentionally over the nose and things not quite going as per  the plan. The perspective creates an illusion of depth. Using only two colors gives importance to the style choice and makes it easier to balance.

PACKAGE DESIGN

Coca Cola .jpg
Hinal Panchal

Roman art was the inspiration for this assignment, so Michelangelo’s ‘Creation of Adam' was used. The brand colour of Coca-Cola  was used keeping the packaging minimal.

A huge ripe pineapple braces the design, with a decorative font unit, balanced by pastel yellows, harmonized by pinks and blues for a fresh, saturated juicy vibe. The slices create a pattern to harmonize the design. The overall bold approach increases the shelf appeal of the Package design.

INFORMATION DESIGN

A white chef stands tall amongst the cartoony chaos of a mid-range- Goan menu card. The logotype hints at the seafood being served. The design uses Mario Miranda's iconic color scheme overlaid on beige, Goan people with their insanity placed in a gracious ‘C’ curve, with the  light brown typo on the right..

22nd June, celebrated internationally as 'Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day.' It gives a chance to depict the slums of Dharavi in a colorful manner. The boxes inside signify the contained environment of several small businesses with simple line drawings to represent stalls and handicraft shops.

COMMUNICATION DESIGN

In this hoarding, the bold and large headline guides our attention through the visual from left to right. The iconic scene of the Titanic was recreated by using Polo as a visual metaphor to the iceberg.
